Tonight Emmerdale delivered a spectacular soap bombshell with the return of fiery barmaid Mandy (played by Lisa Riley).
But in an even more brilliant twist, Paddy (Dominic Brunt) and his best friend Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), may have revealed exactly what is about to come next on the ITV soap.
Following last night’s uproar which saw Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Paddy discover from Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) exactly who Jessie Grant’s (Sandra Marvin) son Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) was, the pub landlord was on the warpath.
Having already stormed round to Marlon’s house to warn Jessie that Billy needed to get out of the village, Chas then proceeded to ban Marlon from coming to work at the Woolpack pub.
But as the dust died down, Paddy told his best friend Marlon it didn’t matter what Chas said, he would still be there to support him at his church nuptials to Jessie on Monday.
Clearly setting the scene for Mandy’s return causing some serious drama of his love life, Paddy said: “The way I see it, Billy’s the last little hurdle we need to get over.
“And she will get over it eventually,” he said with a smile.
But in an amazing foreshadowing for the very next scene, Paddy declared: “Then nothing can get in the way of our happiness.”
“Hope you’re right mate,” Marlon replied, before the camera switched to Sam Dingle (James Hooton), Lydia (Karen Blick) and Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) taking down lights at Wishing Well Cottage.
“I just feel sorry for Marlon that’s all, not having any family there. Well apart from the kids,” Lydia shared, as the trio discussed not turning up to the wedding out of fear of Chas’s wrath.
Just as they did, a taxi pulled up and Mandy stepped out clad in one of her trademark leopard print jackets.
But she had another person with her – her son, and the resemblance to Mandy’s ex-husband Paddy was uncanny.
“Kept that quiet!” Sam cried, completely taken-aback.
“Well I’ve never been brilliant at keeping in touch have I?” Mandy simply said.
“What you doing here? For Marlon’s wedding?” Sam then inquired, as it seemed apparent the mother-of-one hadn’t even heard about it.
“Yeah of course,” she said hastily, as a suspicious Sam asked how long she was planning on staying in the village.
“Not sure yet,” Mandy teased, but Sam wasn’t buying her true intentions.
“Hope you haven’t come to cause havoc,” he warned, and the returning character gave him a cheeky grin.
“Sam, when have I ever done that before?” she asked, and fans can be sure Marlon’s wedding will see some fireworks.
