When is the Agents of SHIELD season 6 release date?
Actress Elizabeth Henstridge (who plays Agent Jemma Simmons on the show) told a fan on Instagram that the show would be returning in July 2019 to ABC, with an E4 release expected soon after in the UK.
This was partially confirmed by Agent Coulson himself, when actor Clark Gregg told a San Diego Comic-Con audience the TV show would be back in summer 2019.
This is assumed to follow SHIELD’s appearances in both Spider-Man: Far From Home, which will be released July 5 and feature Nick Fury (played by Samuel L Jackson) and Agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), and Captain Marvel, which will be set in the 1990s and star Fury and Coulson in earlier incarnations.
Who is in the Agents of SHIELD season 6 cast?
Only two people have been officially confirmed as appearing in the sixth season of the Marvel hit.
The first is Clark Gregg, who will direct the first episode of the show, though he has not said whether he will also be starring in it.
At Comic-Con, it was also revealed that the series will see Deke Shaw (Jeff Ward) return, the time travelling grandson of Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Jemma Simmons.
From her Instagram conversation with a fan, it is also assumed that Henstridge will be returning.
So far, IMDB only lists Agent Davis (Maximillian Osinski) in the cast section of its page for season six episode one, which will be titled Missing Pieces.
However, the page does also name a number of stunt doubles that give us some clue as to who else we might see.
Katie O’Donavan is listed as stunt double to Natalia Cordova-Buckley, meaning Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriquez is likely to return.
Also listed is Ming Qiu as Ming Na Wen’s stunt double, which implies we will also be seeing Melinda May make an appearance.
Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson and Henry Simmons as Mack are also assumed to be returning.
What will be the plot of Agents of SHIELD season 6?
The title Missing Pieces seems to imply that the series will be grappling with the events of Avengers: Infinity War.
At the end of that film (spoilers), Thanos (Josh Brolin) finally had all the Infinity Stones, which he used to click his fingers and erase a third of the MCU.
Surely this means that the Agents of SHIELD crew will have a few ‘missing pieces’.
We know that at least one SHIELD-affiliated agent has disappeared, with Fury turning to ashes in the post-credits scene on Infinity War.
The season will also have to tie up the loose ends of the finale, which saw Leo Fitz die and Daisy stop Graviton rather than save Coulson.
Is there a Agents of SHIELD season six trailer?
An announcement trailer was released in May which confirmed the show was back for a sixth season.
However, there is currently no trailer featuring footage from the new season. Stay tuned for more.
